Eversheds Sutherland Expands Client Services Offerings with Aderant Drive

Integrated, self-service portals essential to furthering client-firm relationships

ATLANTA – April 13, 2021 – With a goal of increasing transparency and enhancing the delivery of their legal services, Eversheds Sutherland chose Aderant Drive to create secure collaboration portals for their clients. Their purchase of Drive gives clients real-time insight into matters, budgets, invoices and their legal team members in a self-serve model, made possible by Drive’s integration with SharePoint Online®.

The idea of a legal client portal, or extranet, wasn’t new to Eversheds Sutherland. They have used them for many years and were already using a system for more transactional cases – but that solution was proving difficult to scale to their entire client-base. Eversheds Sutherland realized that their existing solution fit a specific niche, but they needed a broader public offering – one that would leverage both existing technology investments and internal systems.

“Drive’s integrations were a big selling point for us,” said Jonathan Thurmond, Director of Solutions and Decision Support at Eversheds Sutherland. “The simplicity of creating and maintaining the sites on familiar technology meant we didn’t have to pull the rug out from under our clients.”

Aderant Drive has a large library of connectors that centralize disparate firm data including document management systems (DMS), customer relationship management (CRM), and financials to allow firms like Eversheds Sutherland to more transparently collaborate with clients. While the firm still utilizes their legacy solution, they turn to Drive when a client requires additional security. “More and more of our collaboration spaces will end up in Drive, but right now we’re doing everything on a per-request basis,” said Thurmond. “If a client requests more insights, we’re happy to help them.”
